Fakestreamer

From IncelWiki.org, the incel encyclopedia

The word fakestream is a blend of the words “fake” and “mainstream media”. It is synonymous with the word infoganda (blend of information + propaganda). It primarily refers to media outlets which are outwardly reputable, but on closer inspection engage in a lot of lazy journalism, which in the end, ends up producing several inaccuracies. Its derived term fakestreamer can refer to both a consumer of such news, as well as a producer of such news. A journalist or media conglomerate who disseminates fakestream infoganda is called an infogandist or fakestreamer.

The most rigorous proponents of the fakestream media theory consider the editorial boards of MSM (mainstream media) to be totalitarian, pro-censorship of speech which deviates from the norm, in favor or apathetic to repression and government surveillance, has propaganda as its defining trademark, and having a slant in favor of hasbarists, presstitutes, and false flaggers is a hallmark requirement for employee recruitment.

Scope[edit]

MSM includes conventional media outlets, such as: television, newspapers, magazines, news websites, and radio broadcasts. The effect that the MSM has upon wider society is referred to in the incelosphere as personalitist-exclusive beliefs, meaning that it is manipulative, favors specific agendas, alienates outspoken men through misandry and pigeonholing, portraying incels as a monolithic community even though it is extremely diverse. The media specifically engages in incel accelerationism.

Incel erasure/male disposability[edit]

One of the main reasons why the MSM is unreliable is its adoption of pro-male-disposability rhetoric. Blatant examples of this misandrist propaganda is in its language-use wherein the MSM systematically engages in incel-erasure and romanticism of reverse rapists (i.e. female rapists). For example, if a woman engages in an act of rape, it is called “having sex” or “having an affair”. When a man does the exact same thing, he is called variations of “monster”, “beast” or simply “rapist”. Is this not evidence that the MSM is misandrist? Is this not evidence that the MSM is androphobic? Is this not evidence that the MSM is phallophobic? Why are female crimes romanticized whereas male crimes are portrayed as wicked? I'll tell you why this happens. Its because women have a womb, and a womb is more valuable than what men possess, i.e. sperm. Its for the same reason as why gold is more valuable than brass. They are both metals so why do people differentiate? Its because there's more brass in the world than gold; similarly, sperm is in much more plentiful supply than the female egg. Its called male disposability. Male problems are ignored. Male problems are no big deal and as such are swept under the carpet by fakestreamers.

Inceldom is a problem that primarily effects men. Because it mostly affects men rather than women, it is similarly swept under the carpet by MSM. This can be seen in incel erasure practices by the MSM. Take for instance whenever there's an inquiry regarding the rise in sexlessness. In order to disambiguate from volitional practices such as sexual abstinence, the MSM continued to use the terms such as involuntary celibacy or inceldom during the 2000s and early 2010s in a neutral and studious tone. For example, MSM sources such as ABC Online did as such as late as 2014,[1] New York Times in 2009[2] or Huffington Post and Jezebel in 2013.[3][4] But something changed by the mid-2010s when it was discovered that most people self-identifying as 'incel' were male. All of a sudden, the tone surrounding discussion about involuntary celibacy no longer had an objective tone. Henceforth, the MSM decided that involuntary celibacy would only be discussed in a nefarious light. Male married men have committed far more acts of violence, whether domestic or otherwise than their incel counterparts. Yet issues facing male wedders do not face erasure by the MSM. So why the incel-erasure? That's because the MSM tenet of male disposability dictates that issues that mainly affect males, such as inceldom, should be swept under the carpet lest it challenges its narrative that men are privileged in western society.

Hyperbolism trend[edit]

As of the 21st century, the revenues of the MSM (mainstream media) are under threat from all sides. Less people are buying newspapers in print form. Newspapers in non-print form, such as online news, are also increasingly under threat with fewer people visiting them. These news outlets also increasingly are having to compete with non-traditional forms of news, such as by bloggers or vloggers. Furthermore, due to an increasing mistrust of the MSM, the MSM now also has to compete with alternative media. This has had a knock-on effect as due to the fall in eyeballs, company advertisers are less willing to splash the cash on column space; as such revenue from advertisers has also dropped.

All the aforementioned factors has led to the MSM taking drastic measures to attempt to lure more eyeballs to the writings of their journalists. One of the most controversial strategies employed by the MSM to keep people interested in their publications is the advent of hyperbolism. Hyperbolic statements include those intended to shock the audience, to intrigue them, or to create agitation and fear. Hyperbolism and sensationalism was previously restricted to the tabloid newspaper format, although increasingly, the broadsheet newspaper format has followed in the footsteps of tabloids in its embrace of hyperbolism.

The main downside in the hyperbole media revenue-generating tactic has been the loss of accuracy. Some of these inaccuracies can be blamed on intentional misrepresentation, but other inaccuracies may be due to the loss of editorial boards due to financial costs of maintaining them. As such there are increasing calls among frequenters in the manosphere to boycott the MSM (mainstream media).

Reverse Streisand effect[edit]

In order to fight off falling revenues, the media also increasingly publicizes subjects regardless of the moral value of giving them publicity in the first place, often resulting in a reverse-Streisand effect. The reverse-Streisand effect is when the media perpetuates a negative social trend it claims to be against by simply giving it too much oxygen. This phenomenon may have been the largest contributor to the rise of various things the media claims to be upset about.
